Hi, just bought bmw 320d 51 plate with damaged engine. Going to replace engine myself. Anybody know what need to be coded to ECU unit from replacement engine( injectors, fuel pump or ...). Want to fit this everything from old engine because don't have any idea or hardware to do this. Thanks

Fuel pump is coded... you will definitely need the chip from the ignition key, ecu and ews module for sure. There may be other components too on the E46.

I have had to purchase all of the above including engine for my touring. Unfortunately, same old story... No time to fit as yet

As A20 says you will need the chip from the ignition key, ecu and ews module .

I dont think the derv fuel pump is coded as its a different beast to the petrol one.

But yeah, calling a BMW breaker or garage would be the best option as diesels arent really my subject to be honest

If it's a straight swap like for like then you will be fine just fitting the engine as you can use your parts, the pump isn't coded on your car. Just do the straight engine swap and you will be singing
