I have a 1997 e36 328i Convertible and the head gasket blew on it, the car has been sat around for roughly 18 months and has only recently been repaired and i must say for a head gasket repair its actually running better than it ever did
However, upon trying to operate the roof on a nice sunny day, nothing happened. There is nothing happening when i press the roof down switch what so ever.
I pulled the cord, disengaged the motors, dropped the roof manually and put it in position for re-initialisation and still nothing happened. I therefore asked a friend with diagnostics equipment to have a look and fault code 1 comes up "Short To Ground Fault"
I do not have a clue where to start but being a 14 year old car, i dont want to take it to bmw and spend fortunes on it before asking a few questions.
1st Q: Has anyone had this fault, or know of any possible fixes I could try or things I should be looking for
2nd Q: I am taking it that this fault means that there is a grounding problem with the motors, am I correct in saying this or is this just 1 of those fault codes that could mean anything?
all posts and help appreciated
