Hi. I recently bought my '57 635d coupe and have just bought the LED upgrade bulbs to get rid of the yellowness of the angel eyes. I have the twin-xenon type headlights. After seaarching different forums I bought these:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1505718358...84.m1439.l2649

But when I followed the instructions on this forum somewhere I was looking for a socket UNDER the bulb cover on the back of the units. There is nothing there. After looking in the handbook it says the sidelight/daytime running bulb is inside this cover. Duely removed it and twisted out the current bulb which looks like this:

Unfortunately the current bulb fitting is a lot smaller diameter so doesnt look like a direct replacement at all. In fact Im not even sure the cover would go back on due to the new plug not being at 90degrees.

    Have I gone wrong somewhere??

Looking at the picture of your existing lamp it looks like it is H8, you will need an LED replacement for a H8 lamp, make sure that you get the right one,s as some will interfere with your FM radio signal, i would e mail the person you bought them from and ask if they are the correct one's for your car

    Hope this helps

Thanks - yes handbook confirms an H8 bulb. Ill purchase accordingly in the future - though a quick look on ebay suggests £46!! Ouch!
