So in all my time, I've found the BMW prices for pins and connectors to be outragous. At £0.70-£1.20 per pin, and connectors ranging into the 50+ pin count, the connectors in a project could run to more that £50.

BMW uses TYCO/Aphenol and I've found Farnell and RS carry the pins.

Here are some part numbers that will get you pins for ~10p each instead of 7-10 times that at BMW.

The lever housing connectors used on E46/E39 and later is the Tyco MQS quadlok system, and these MQS pins are also used on the electrocromatic mirrors, and all the low current sockets for your switches. There is a high current MQS power series for things like heated seats.

The BMW D connectors on E30/E36 etc are the TYCO 2.5mm system or AMP DIN 72585. These are used on the doors, the windows, window switches, any waterproof connections for the lights, brake light switch.

You will find a mixture of D series and MQS on most BMWs, at least up until the E90/MOST bus era. I've not checked that series.

On then to the part numbers in no particular order. Note they don't carry the various housing BMW uses, but they do have some of the 3 and 6 pin stuff, but it may not be keyed correctly for the BMW part you are trying to use. At least you'll save a tenner or two on the pins.

Note: Farnell/RS minimum spend is £25 for a credit card, so it might be wise to plan all your electrical projects at once, eg, buying a bag of resistors, LED bezels, shrink tubing, wire, relays and 605ish nm orange LEDs etc.

Cheap 12 pin black and white connectors for your headunit/tuner can be found on ebay by seaching celcius quadlock.

You may find that CPC Farnell (Farnell company) also stock these items. CPC is aimed at the DIYer so does not have minimum order values like Farnell. Farnell are aimed at corporate accounts who buy in bulk. So if you are only ordering a few bits might be worth a try. Just type in the description and see if they stock the items.

Hi,

What are the parts I need to get to connect to the cd changer wiring in the trunk of an e46?

I think I need a three pin male and a 6 pin male connector, but it is difficult to match to the tyco part numbers. Has anybody ordered these from farnell or rs, they could maybe confirm what they ordered.

Thanks.

How to find the complete number of the part

Gents,

I bought a IPOD retrofit kit for my e60 (65412160342).
Since my car did not have a CD changer or provisions for it, I had the wire a cable for this (61120412795)

In the package there was a blue connector which I broke and want to order from BMW again. My Stealer is Stupid and If I dont supply them with the complete number of the part, they cant find it and cant order it.

here is my problem. On the 4 pins connector there are the numbers 0409639 (Marked as 1 in the picture)
Anyone know how to find the missing numbers which come in front?

X6011 - A closer look

Is this connector type MDK4 2.8 ?

The number on the housing looks like 7 605 271 but i cannot find it in the ETK. Does anyone know the full 11 digit part number for it ?

Technology

Electronics Technology Electronic component Hand Electrical connector

Electronics Computer hardware Cable management Technology Electrical wiring

UPDATE: Part supersession.
The part (In the first pic) is listed now as 12 52 7 505 477
Socket terminals are 12 52 7 502 933
Blade (Pin) terminals are 61 13 8 364 567

The part was listed under the 5 series. I guess because the housing is part of the loom on the E46

Hi Everyone,

My apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I was hoping the people who posted on this thread might be able to point me towards where I could get parts to create a bridge connector between the white and blue plugs that would normally go into the TV module on the E46?

Thanks and regards,

David
