Thank you Bigedd9990. The little bugger stopped working again so I ripped the panel back off, tapped on it, and it's back to working. This time I actually pulled the FSR out to take a closer look but didn't find anything wrong with it. I re-installed the FSR (only one screw and left the panel off) and it's working so far. I went ahead and ordered a new one I found on eBay for $36 US (no tax or shipping charges). I was a little concerned of the quality due to the low price but I emailed them about the warranty and it's lifetime. Should be here in the next few days. Thanks again all!

No problem, easy job to do, but a right pain if not working

    Thread bump/

Ok I have a 1996 328i saloon, car is UK model right hand drive, has analogue controls for heating and no A/C. My heater blower stopped working at the weekend so set about fixing it and found this thread. Although upon removal of my passenger side kick panel and having a good look in there. There is no final stage resisitor or anything of the sort in there, so quite confused now! Is it in a different place in some UK cars or what's the story because I need to get it fixed ASAP?

It should be there, there should be wires coming out of it, as far as I'm aware all uk cars have them, if not I'm sure one of the techy gurus will let you know, get back under and have a look again its attached at the left hand side of the centre dash

Honestly mate I had my head well in there and looked all round. I was looking directly at where your pic shows the FSR mounted just to the left of the heater duct pipe and there is nothing there at all! Obviously I can see some plugs up in the back of the heater controls and there are also a lot of big plugs directly behind the glovebox but 100% I do not have what's shown in your picture.

    Anyone help me out here?

Ok still havn't got this sorted, I have attached a pic showing in below the passenger side of the dash where the resistor is supposed to be. As can be seen mine is not the same, is mine the darker coloured item shown in the same position? I can't see a plug connected to it so really unsure here.

Here is the pic from the OP for comparison
