Erm, that being the case, I'm not sure they would fully light up the plate. I'm sure that the light emitted from them would be pointed straight out of the plate into the view of drivers behind you.

In any case the light would have to be white and have some sort of shield on it to prevent drivers behind you from being dazzled by the light.

A better idea in my opinion is to buy a white 12v LED strip light and have this mounted somehow at a 45 degree angle either from the top of the plate or the bottom shining onto it. Surely a bracket can be made to accommodate this? Have a look at some buses as they have these now instead of conventional bulbs.

Providing they illuminate enough of the plate like they do in the photo, personally I wouldn't see them as posing a problem for the MOT.

Each MOT tester has his/her own way of testing and do have some discretion when it comes to minor items like these. Your best bet is probably printing that photo from the internet and showing them prior to buying and fitting to get their opinion as to whether they would pass your car MOT with them fitted.

I doubt they will be BS or E approved for road use here in the UK but I could be wrong. Thats what the MOT tester, traffic officer or VOSA officer would be looking for if they wanted to be anal about two small lights.

Personally I wouldn't see a problem them being used on a road and if someone had them fitted round my neck of the woods, they wouldn't be getting pulled for it.
