So why oh why is this car refusing to fire up.
This 1999 Automatic 528i Touring has offered me 11 years and 100,000 miles of trouble free driving. The car has been regularly serviced (last time in January 2012) at registered BMW specialists or dealership, however in the recent 12 months, this motor has caused me headaches and a large hole to appear in my bank account. it has never been the same since I had a new cam and crank sensor issue throw up a terminal code in December. It turns out that the spurious Chinese import sensors fitted to the car were in no way going to last more than 12 months and after having the car checked over by a very well known and much more intelligent BMW specialist than I, it was suggested that I remove and fit a BMW Genuine crank sensor. This was done on Friday afternoon and provoked the reason for me calling all on forums to seek any information that could get my beloved 5 series back on the road.
I would be very happy to hear from anyone out there in Bimmerland who has either experienced and successfully fixed the issue or from any of your more intelligent people out there who know what the hell is going on.
Please save me from another week of public transport commuting, especially with my 18 month old son on the nursery run.
