You can fit 4 inch front speakers in and make up a mounting ring like this. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/w...1/IMG_1330.jpg

I am in the same boat upgrading my poor system on my E92 coupe. I only had £250 to spend so my local audio place i go to recommended just starting with upgrading the front for now which i suppose is the most important place.

I've gone for Rainbow SLX 210 4 inch component speakers for the front including tweeters. I have the basic system (4 speakers) including the 2 mid drivers under the front seats. I ordered some new corner mouldings for the A pillar from BMW (quite cheap £25/pair) These will house the new tweeters and should improve it no end. I'll eventually get round to replacing the rear speakers (unusual size, not 4inch, 1-1.5cm less) but i will wait to see what the outcome of the first upgrade is!

forgot to say you have to be careful on the E92 and E93 with mounting depth, the front for example won't house more than 46mm
