    Hi,

I'm wanting to change my rear number plate lights to the newer-style LED ones. Can I get the bulbs I need from BMW and will I avoid any error notices on my dashboard with these? Also if anyone has a part number and rough price that'd be helpful!

Also, I'd like the puddle lights doing as well to match the door handle lights. Are these the same bulbs and are they easy enough to change?

    Cheers
    Ash

you can get them off ebay and they have ones with resistors in that stop the error codes, AFAIK the m-tech ones from BMW although ridiculously expensive dont cause error codes either.

Cheers, the ebay ones look extremely bright though, I just want them to look OEM. I'll try the BMW ones.

Any idea on the puddle lights? I would imagine it's a festoon bulb the same but wouldn't mind checking.

You should check out the How To/DIY section. I believe someone has converted the number plate bulbs to OEM LED without a problem

    so they have!

Apologies for that, but in my defence the search function does not recognise the term 'LED' !!

I just found it, looks rather more complicated than I'd hoped. Not confident with wiring and electrics. PC wires?!? I think I'll leave them halogen!

    Thanks for the reply anyway.

Reason it doesn't come up with searching just for 'LED' is because the term is commonly used throughout the forum. I wrote that DIY myself and made sure the search term 'LED number plate lights' does come up in the search . I also give an explanation as to why you shouldn't be using LED festoons with built in resistors as well.

It does you're right, I must have put in LED number plate light instead.

I'm not going to use LED festoons, just going to leave it as it is.

'LED number plate light' will work as well in the search. 'LED' on it's own won't work
