If I disconnect my MAF to see if this cures my jerk on the motorway, and then plug it back in after will the EML stay on or go out once I've plugged it back in? Car is a 2007 3.0 diesel M57.

No the EML will stay illuminated but it will eventually knock off after a certain number of clear check cycles have been completed,
not sure how many tho have read 30 or 50 clear check cycles.

When you switch the ignition on it performs a 'check' on the system, its clear if it is without reading an error that will illuminate the EML .
Sorry if the description is a big vague but thats what I mean by 'clear check cycle'
