    Evening peoples,

Me like an idiot has lost one of the keys to my 7 series Anywho what I was wondering was, if I were to purchase a used key from eBay, could I then get it reprogrammed to my car? Obviously also get a key blade cut too. The prgramming is what's causing me the biggest problems though. The car did come to me with two keys, but as said lost one yesterday and I can't find it for love nor money, and if the same happens again, I'm stuffed.

    Cheers

I think you may have to make a trip to the dealer for the key mate, don't think you can use ones from eBay I may be wrong though

I don't know if it is the same on the 7 series but on my e46 if you buy keys off eBay I think you need to buy the ews unit aswel, a key may cost you around 150 notes from the dealer

Then it's a dealer only job because that kind of key holds your car info. like VIN, miles covered, service due, etc. Used keys from ebay are just good for the bin because they hold another vehicle's details and are not reprogrammable. Only a blank key can be programmed to your car and that is sold by the dealer.

Ah, seems I'll have to take a trip down there then, let's hope it's cheap, how will they get all the info? Off of my current key or would they need to get it off the car itself? Hopefully it won't be expensive.
