Traction Control Warning light came on and stayed on a few days ago. Took it to the main dealer who ran some diagnostic on it and tells me my DSC Cotrol Unit needs replacing and reprogramming.

The problem is Alpinas have just a 2 year warranty and fixing this is apparently a '£2,000 please sir' job.

I believe the DSC unit in the Alpina is the same as the 320d although I could imagine (although I have no techy knowledge to justify this) that it might be programmed slightly differently to take account for the different suspension on the Alpina.

    My simple questions are:

    1. Is there a cheaper route to getting this fixed - my experience with main dealers is they rarely offer you the most cost effective solution?
    2. Any recommendations for a good independent specialist who could offer a second opinion / if it needs replacing may be a little cheaper?

    Many thanks,
    Mike

That be major prob we having with them a dealer be internal pressure sensor fault, new dsc and reprogram. Should beable to get it done under warranty or bmw pay some at least. I no of one just last week was 05plate 1series and bmw paid for part and 50% of labour.
