hi all was involved in an accident last week and now have a dtc error code assessor says fault could have been there before accident. can diagnostic equipment provide the date the error occurred as i will go to my local indie and pay for a report to prove my point. i was hit on the passenger side and both door pillars bent and the assessor wants to repair my baby i personally feel its a write off.

Bending the pillars is nasty surely the insurerer would write it off due to the cost involved to repair and for a hire car

They can have timestamps (time since first seen, number of starts since first seen, road speed, temperatures when seen etc)

It would depend on the code, so you might need it read by BMW or a good independent, with strict instructions not to clear anything.
Depending on the code or fault, an engineers report will be able to confirm if they are linked, or just a coincidence.
