    hi, as per x forum.e53 x5 3.0d 2005 won't start-or switch on to postion 2 (dashlights and service lights)used to have to switch ignition on and off several times for dashlights to come on and start.now not at all. i thought was ignition, ex bmw mech reckons ecu.when it did go to pos 2 started 1st time.ecutesting.com have the ecu but can't fully check it.what they have checked they reckon is ok.anyone know??

    Not familiar with x5. Do you mean it wont physically turn to position 2, or does it turn to position 2 but no lights come on?

    I think that's more of a lock barrel, ignition switch problem.

    Maybe other forum members will know, but doesn't that company sound familiar?

    thanks i think its ignition myself.mechanic got a second hand one today.ecu back from them tomorrow.hopefully will sort it. you heard of ecutesting before?? they promised me they could test it but then phoned to say couldnt.only charged me for postage thankfully

    There was someone who had sent their ecu back and forward to an ecu repair place without it being fixed, and was even sent random parts by accident, but i can't find the thread or name, so as yet, they are innocent.
