Hi folks, for my 2005 E46 330d Vert I have a Bluetooth device that is supposed to have a good battery life.. but does not.

So rather than remove it every few days to charge it via USB on my computer or with the cigarette lighter adaptor in the car (a dangly lead is no good...), I want to wire it in permamantly to the car's 12V.

ie, 12 V flying lead to a female cigaratte socket into which the charger is plugged (all hidden under the dash) with a lead that goes up the A pillar to the sunvisor where the bluetooth device is located.
It should be easy to hide all the leads, the one thing I don't know is from where to take 12V.

I've done this kind of thing before in another car, on that occasion there was a clock that I could take the 12V from.
In this case the obvious choice would be a feed from the car's cigarette lighter... but unlike many cars, this is on all the time even when the key is out and for obvious reasons I only want power going to my device when the key is in position 1 or 2.

Also I don't want any errors to be thrown up on the ever watchful bus system!

    Any ideas?

I won't be doing this myself but I want to direct the Auto electrician I will ask.

    Many thanks
