    Hi,

Could anyone please advise me on what the problem may be with my electrical faults.

I have recently purchased a 2005 320d convertible that seems to be developing some electrical faults.

The first one I noticed was when unlock the car sometimes the drivers door window will drop completely and then come back up when I shut the door. Not to much of a problem unless its chucking it down with rain!!

The next fault was the reversing sensors. When I put it into reverse I got the long audible warning telling me the sensors have a fault, and yes they did work sometimes but very Rarely. Now I get no audible warning and when I put it in reverse the near side door mirror turns down to-wards the ground and will not go back to normal position until I take it out of reverse.

The car seems to be equipped with blue tooth according to the Manuel's and pass-code I have but after following the instructions I cant seem to get it into registration mode. Not sure if this is working or not!!

Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks, Dazzer

    Hi Dazzer,
The window problem you mention is something called convienent access, this can be coded out at the dealer.

Reversing sensor problem will most likely be a faulty sensor.

Mirror dips in reverse, flick the mirror switch to the passengers side, will turn this feature off.

The bluetooth problem, press and hold the talk button on the eject box in the centre console and after 3 seconds turn the ignition on whilst keeping the button pressed, release the button after a further 3 seconds. BT Pairing should now come up in the radio display, then follow the instructs in the telephone handbook supplied with the car. Have your pass key ready as you will need to enter it in the phone to enable pairing.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Barney 3,

Thanks for the posting a reply.

Could the convienent access setting have a fault as it doesnt do it all the time?

Do you know how I can find out what sensor is faulty? Will unplugging them one at a time tell me or will it have to be diagnosed by the dealer?

What is the mirror dips in reverse feature for and why has it only started doing this when the parking sensor developed the fault?

Thanks for the bluetooth info I'll give this a try to see if I can get it BT Pairing mode.

    Thanks again, Dazzer

To test the reversing sensors place car in reverse and switch ignition on until dash lights come on but engine isn't turning,( position 2 I think ),
go to rear of car and listen at each sensor for a clicking sound, if you have one that doesn't click it'll probably be dodgy.
Some members have found a good spray of WD40 and a clean with a toothbrush can bring them back to life, & don't put a jetwash on them when cleaning

Here's the Bluetooth Manual should you need it & Cleaning Parking Sensors by Will3001

The mirror dipping on the left is a feature that has always been there. If the switch is to the right then the left mirror will dip when reversing, if to the right it will not dip. This suits me perfectly as I reverse into my drive and have a low wall on the left that I need to get right up to (a couple of cm) so the dipping mirror is great

Yeah the mirror dipping is to assist you In not scuffing you alloys on kerbs and can be disabled by flicking the switch to the drivers side!
The window dropping and then closing when you close the door is caused by pressing the unlock button twice within a sec. If you only push the unlock button once it wnt do it. This feature is to assist you enterng the car in a tight space like in a car park!!
