I have just bought a late 2004 530d M Sport and my PDC is not working, it work's intermittently on the rear off side.

the rest don't work, there is a PDC failure on the screen with the picture of the car but doesn't show distance and no sounds either .. I have checked the fuse (no 68 I think) and its fine .. any suggestions on how to check why it's not working will be gratefully received

If one of the sensors go faulty then typically that's what happens. BMW's fault code reader will tell them exactly which sensor it is but I think you can do the same by listening for a clicking noise in close proximity to each sensor, the broken one will be silent.

The bad news is allegedly the early ones were prone to it. My 2005 car had had none changed until mid 2010 and gradually they're failing one by one. 6 of 8 have been changed under warranty now

I've not had to replace any myself as it's all been done under warranty. Allegedly the bumper surround has to come off to remove them and once that's done I can't see it being particularly difficult
