    Hi
The screen has gone blank on my car- 5series E60. 2004 plate. It didn't get gradually dimmer it just worked one day and stopped the next. The phone fuse keeps blowing but we have never used the phone so we don't know how long ago this happened. We have tried rebooting the computer by disconnecting the battery. Garage says they can try and take it out and send it off but suggested it takes hours (equals costs alot) to get the screen out. We will then have an unusable care for a week or so. They are not even sure if it is the screen.
Can anyone help or suggest anything. I am an electrician so can do some things myself.
    Thanks for your help.

try charging the battery, even if the battery appears to be ok. There have been reports on here of low current affecting the iDrive.

I have bought a new MPM unit and disconnected and reconnected the battery but the screen is still blank, can anyone help? Turns out there was water in the boot which is a common problem making the MPM unit and the screen break. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next? Thanks

think it was from a bottle of water in boot. for others i think it is a leak. some have mentioned its a leak from the sun roof. its from the pipes which come down through the boot well and clog and flood the boot. they mention it on bimmerland forum.
