    Hi,

I was looking at a 2004 330CI in a non-BMW dealership which I spotted had an intermittent fault on the N/S front light cluster. At times the parking light would not work but indicator light stayed on (not flashing).

They rang me today to tell me that the problem was a faulty filament in the parking bulb and when the parking light fails the indicator bulb is designed to light up to so that there is a light on at the corner rather than a dark corner.

This sounds like a fishy tale to me ... but I thought that I'd ask someone with more knowledge than me ... any information / feedback would be much appreciated.

Can someone please confirm that this is utter cr*p .. thanks

    Peter

Not sure about your specific model, however I have a e39 530d (2002) and when one of my angel eyes (side light) blew a bulb the indicator next to said side light would light up as to provide a secondary side light so to speak. So the dealer may well be right

That is correct, the indicator does indeed illuminate for safety reasons,

Think about when your car is parked at night with the sidelights on, heading into oncoming traffic

    As Ronnie says:

When the front park bulb fails, the indicator comes on half brightness instead. Safety feature
