Your headlamp will look like this if it is xenon.

There is a little plastic box right behind the main light and when i took the top off it i can see one yellow and one brown wire going straight to the bulb...

So am i right in thinking they are not xenon??

There will be a warning sticker on the box or on the headlight stating it is xenon. Also when you switch a xenon headlight on, it will flicker then start off with a blue tint and slowly go brighter and become more white. Another key way of finding out if your car has xenons is by looking at your dash. Look where the dial is to switch on your headlights and sidelights, on the right to this dial there will be a headlight leveler nozzle and a dashboard illumination brightness nozzle. If the headlight leveler nozzle is misisng then you have xenons, if there is a headlight level nozzle, this means you have normal halogen headlights. Hope this helps!

flick the headlights on and off a couple of times. if they are instant, it's xenons, if it's like a filament bulb then it's halogen.
