Since having the spark plugs and coils changed on my E46 325 XI there is a slight engine speed related crackle on the speakers. The plugs are NGK and the coils Bresch. I will take the car back to the garage next week, but in the meantime can anyone enlighten me as to what the problem may be. Thanks Are.

alternator wine-need a supressor or replacement

broken rca wire if aftermarket stereo upgrade

    bad earth-check first

not run any signal lines next to power cable. Usually noise problems like that are a grounding issues.

RCA cables are a bit of a sh*t with this sometimes, check the plugs are the same core as the old ones if you can, sometimes this affects things.

If running after Market stereo, you can buy RCA cables with an earth cable attached, expensive but I found them a god send when it came to eliminating the same noise you had.

Thanks TheTwig, and, spiritentwined, I'll check the Earth first. The plugs are NGK R BKR6EOUP all new. The garage insisted on fitting new ones even though the old ones were only a month old. The car is a bog standard 325xi e46 2004, with radio, cd, phone, and gps. Are

Why did they insist? That's not on! It's the customers decision as to what parts are fitted in a service! Have you still got the old ones by any chance?

Bresch the coil manufacturers will not guarantee their coils unless they are all replaced, and all of the plugs are replaced at the same time. I took back the month old plugs saying that I would degrease them with acetone, and airline them dry, but the garage advised me that to use these would invalidate the warranty, and that those they had just put in would last for a long time anyway. Do you need some plugs? Are

No, don't need any but if theyvare the same as the new ones, I would replace them to see if it cuts the noise out, garage won't know the difference!
