Will these instructions be the same for an independent or just for a stealer?

That will be more stealer specific

DIS is Stealer equipment more, but you may find a Indy that has it or can use the Autologic to do it, I've never done it so it's new to me, if you do get it done then update us and we can safely say that this will be a very good guide

It will be "a bit" like the "coding" shown later on in here, http://www.bavauto.com/Assets/inst_pages/ins229.pdf

This is the MODIC coding menu.

    1)Go to ZCS Coding
    2)Select E46 Series
    3)Select Recode or retrofit
    4)Select Kombi
    5)Select Turn Signal
    6)Enable OBC

If you get an error touch the OBC button to complete the procedure.

The dealer should charge you around half a hour.

    Thanks again Ronnie,

Hopefully new OBC stalk purchased on Ebay should arrive within next couple of days. Then the fitting.

Have a couple of independents scoped out for the coding so will update when everything is successfully fitted and activated.

Well, OBC stalk received in post today, and have just finished installing it.
Was easier than i expected, only difficullty was removing cowling and that was because i was scared of breaking it.

Indicators and full beam work fine so must have done it right!!

All that remains is to go tomorrow and get it coded.

Oh no!! Seems I've ballsed something up. Started car to drive to shop and DSC light and brake lights stay on yellow. Pushing DSC button has no effect. Any ideas on what i've done to cause this??

unless you've knocked a connection somewhere, if you've followed the instructions in this thread re installation then I would have to wonder if it might be coincidence?

Alternatively the dash has recognised a new input and has got confused.

Ask the indie, see what they say.

and don't forget to update the thread when you resolve it!

On getting up today, was expecting the yellow dsc lights and brake lights accompanying me on the drive to work.

To my surprise and relief, they werent there!! Happy days. Don't know why, but dont really care.

However, have to wait until saturday to get the stalk coded.

When you get the stalk coded have them read the fault codes, may be a separate problem

    The saga goes on!!

The indie i had lined up doesn't have the correct equipment to do the recoding, after assuring me he had

have been given name of another indie near where i work so will try him on monday.

Failing that will have to bite bullet and go to a stealer to have it done

To be honest i'm not sure what machine the guy had.
He said it could read the codes, but wasnt able to recode them.

    Pretty pointless machine i thought!!

I'll just have to keep trying
