Its held by the edges of the carpet, the edges of the carpet are sitting in a channel at the edges of the tray.
Just push the carpet back and you will see or lift up the hard boot floor lining and then remove the tray by
lifting the side with the two tabs upwards.Be carefull as the plastic tray is very brittle.

Hi. Just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of that problem? I have a 2004 320d and I'm have the same issue. I'm getting a stuttering/hesitation around 2000rpm and it's showing an air mass meter fault. My mechanic fitted a new aftermarket Bosch one but it didn't fix the problem. The wiring loom was replaced(with no effect), and it's been with a BMW specialist who says the car is otherwise in perfect working order. A bmw specialist told me that bmw test batches of the Bosch air mass meters they get and send back any batches that don't meet their requirements, which are then sold as aftermarket. I'm just wondering if it's one of those I have and it's not giving correct readings. I really don't want to fork out all that money for a genuine BMW one, only to find the fault still there.
