The dash is showing (i assume) that a bulb is out, thing is all the lights \ bulbs seem to be working..

The error code seems to point to the rear right light, but i am confused.. Any thoughts ???

Could just be a poor conection/gone rusty, give them a check over and wiggle the bulbs.

Spot on Xmak, un-screwed the panel with the lights on, i could see the bulb was flickering, will hit it with electrical cleaner tomorrow... One less thing to worry about..

Little update, turns out the problem was not sorted. Seems the earth pin on the bulb holder has suffered some burn out, half of the pin in still intact. Phoned BMW and have ordered a repair kit. Seems this is a common problem due to the earth being to small. Going to sort the drivers side while i am at it.

Very common fault on the saloon, I've used the BMW repair kit on one side and the quick cheap DIY on the other E46 (Saloon) Rear Light Error Fix

Ok, having sorted out the earth wire, i still get the light on the dash, albeit it does go off after a while. Any idea if it's because the earth is no longer connected to the pin (cause it's burnt out) on the bulb holder ?

Sorting this earth out makes a big difference in the brightness of the bulbs, BMW are clearly aware of this issue, you can buy a repair kit from them for around £5 for both sides, sitll waiting for it to arrive..
