Hi I am new here so I hope this is the correct place for my question?

I have a 2004 120d with climate control but have a very annoying problem.
Everything works as expected apart from cool air will not come through the drivers side air vents. e.g. if I have the aircon on and the temp set to cold on both sides cold air only comes out of the passenger side!
I think this is also the case for the floor vents too.

Could this be a failed temperature sensor somewhere or a failed actuator?

I have not been to the dealers as I can't really afford to pay there prices to diagnose never mind fix the problem!

I was considering buying a code reader but am not sure which if any will read faults for the climate control?

Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated!

Your best bet will be to take the car to a Independent BMW specialists that has a Autologic machine or similar dealer spec Scanner, they can then read the codes for you.

A scanner to read the fault codes for the Climate control system will be pricey, unless you get something like Carsoft, which can be a ear ache to set up.

The problem could be a actuator or sensor like you mention, not sure whether the solar sensor would cause this, will be best to get the fault codes read and then post them up
