have an 03 535d in my garage at the min.
when the car is running the idrive displays the bmw logo then it disappears after 1 minute then comes back on 1 minute later.
it will not allow you to enter idrive itself or choose radio stations. no i drive functions at all.

can anybody shed some light on this. thank

there is some reset thing you can do with the car at the first ignition. remember reading about it but can't mind. its like holding eject, power and something else for say 5secs

any problems i've had with mine (idrive screen going blank) is usually cured by switching the car off completely, ejecting the sat nav disc, switching car on and then inserting disc again

ur from coalisland aren't you? haven't noticed that many other 535d's about....i'm cookstown

Sounds like you may have a battery drain somewhere or you battery is on it;s way out. Can you get the battery tested?

I found this for you, read it all here

..... The front of my cd player has the volume/mute switch to the left of the cd slot and 2 buttons on the right. Ignition on and hold all 3 in together for approx. 60 seconds until the idrive screen goes blank and then reboots itself. I asked the Indy BMW garage about this and they said and I quote "thats nonsense it is a dealer only job with the correct gear to reboot the system" so I presume they are looking after there interests there a bit. Any way guys thanks again for the interest.
    Cheers,Bill.

Take the Nav disc out of the drive and see what happens, if the fault remains then a new Mask/ Car Communication Computer required.

i tried this reset the day but no luck. the lights that usually appear at the side of the cd player are no lit like normal to let you no there is a disc inside. there seems to be no activity at all from the cd player. there is a noise however from behind it whenever the screen changes from the bmw logo to blank.

if theres no actvity in the cd player unit i dont think reseting it will work.
