Car is 03 plate and the MOT is this week coming.
I have been having intermittent problems with the headlights firing up all the time. Sometimes the left headlight won't fire up, sometimes it's the right headlight. Just back from BMW and the control unit for the left one failed once when they were trying it out.

Each control unit (one per headlight) is just under £300 from the main dealer with a 2 day order time!
Is there somewhere else I can buy these? How hard are they to fit? BMW reckoned 15 mins for passenger side and 45 mins for drivers side for them to fit.
So if I go to BMW I'm looking at 7 or 800 pounds worth of work!
Anyone else had to do this? Any advice?

Ouch, would rather just turn them off and on again, they work after that right?

Them ballasts are mega money, would be looking for part numbers off them and seeing if anything else has a compatible ballast, may be cheaper from a different car but fit perfect?

They don't fire up every time unfortunately, but that does work. Hence me not fixing them until a looming MOT.

I've got the part number on the quote from BMW...

    B63.12.7.176.068

    £254 +vat from the dealer

Total cost including fitting for the left side £299
    ...and the right side £357!!

So instead of turning the lights on and off, £656!!!!

There must be a cheaper way of doing this....

I would speak to the tester, tell him the situation, and that they do work after you play about with them, either that or turn up with the headlights on!

Well I was lucky this time. The headlights both fired up during the MOT so that's another year.
I'm still keen to fix the ballast without paying the dealer £300!!!
I'm gonna call HID direct today to see if there is anything they can offer or help with.

Anyone any ideas? Or came across the same problem elsewhere?
