All, I purchased a BMW Aux Input cable and fitted.

My Car is an 2003 E46 M3 with 'Professional' head unit - SW version (from holding 'm' button down) is 04 04 76 - which I believe should accept the aux input.

After fitting the adaptor the headunit does not give an AUX option when changing through inputs.

I have tested the end of the aux cable - feeding into the head unit on points 8 and 9 (as suggested carry the left and right channels) and they do not have a voltage across them...

    Can anyone help?

How does the head unit recognize the AUX input is present? Is it a signal across the 8/9 pins?

Should my headunit be compatible with this (from all my research is should be )

What else can I do to test?

Thanks soo much for any advise...a lot of fustrated time spent on this...
