Hi all - I have a cheapo MEOS motorised 7 inch screen satnav, radio, cd, mp3, bluetooth blah blah blah - to be honest Im more than happy with what it does for the money I paid.

Anyway, I get a whining interference thru speakers when car is at idle. As soon as I press throttle just slightly it disappears.

Im assuming its a suppression issue - bought a big suppression capacitor off ebay and fitted it to switched live - but no change.

    Any ideas anyone?

    questions,

does it make the noise on all sources, ie. only on radio not on anyhting else etc?
do you have an amp fitted?
Do you have anything else connected on the wireing loom, like a sat nav hard wired in from the radio live?

Why dont you try fitting the cap to the PL?

    PL - permanant live
    SL - switched live

So the whine goes completly when you bring revs up? sounds a bit strange, i would expect that to get louder as revs increase

you could also try a diffrent method of grounding the HU, as a test run a short length of wire from the metal case of the HU to the chasis and see if the noise goes away,

also you could get the negative in the loom and run your own negative to the chasis, it may help

Thanks Sam - tried the suppressor in both switched and permanent live with no result at the time. Like you, I expected the interference to rise with engine revs - but it becomes silent with just the slightest touch of the throttle - no noise with original head unit fitted The head unit is connected with a good quality ISO adapter so I'm a little confused. I'm working away at the moment so I'll give your suggestions a try when I get home
