I wouldn't say easy - very fiddly - if you've soldered before then you should have no problem. The LEDs will cook if you apply heat for longer than a couple of seconds so use a decent quality tip suitable for surface mount and also a small guage solder if possible. I didn't think to do it as I rushed in with mine but if you're out of practice - have a go at removing the orange ones that are already there and then soldering back in (if you can be bothered)

I used to do a lot of soldering as part of my previous job so it was just a matter of regaining a lost skill.

    Definately worth doing.

What did you use to change the colour of the A/C control unit display - have you done the OBC display on the dash or left that orange?

hi to change the display in the aircon i used pcl2 3528 smds blue, then took out the orange plastic sheet and replaced it with a white translucent plastic sheet, this was too bright at first so i dimmed it using some photo paper. My OBC display is red as i intended to make them all red,but now i want them all blue, that is my next task to make it blue as well i got a spare instument cluster just in case i **** it up,What i want is to make the needles light up red, still thinking of the best way to do this though.

Did you use the same LEDs in the instrument panel as they look like a different wavelength colour in the photo or is it just the photo making them look slightly different colour?

Also what did you use to replace the switch bulbs as when I took mine apart to see what type of LED they were they weren't SMD but looked like mini radial type LEDs

    Thanks for the info

they are slightly different in colour as they came from a different batch but its not as different as in the photo just stands out more in the photo, the switches have 3mm leds just unsolder clean the holes push prongs through solder back in and snip of the excess

ok got my OBC display done, works same as the aircon unit, its got 10 pcl2 smds under it.on the back of the lcd is an orange sticker this needs to be peeled off and replaced with some white translucent plastic sheet i also used some frosted clear vinyl. The photo makes it look a different colour but to the eye its about the same as dash lighting.
