Hi all here we go- ive had my car 320d 2003 E46 for about 2 months when i bought it one key would operate the central locking but not start the car every time, the other key would start the car but not always operate the central locking, i had a search round the site and tried to re-programme the keys but it didnt work, then the key that occasionally operated the central locking stopped working and would only start the car, then getting fed up with carrying 2 keys everywhere i had a brain wave! ill take the buttons out of the key that always works the central locking and put them in the key case that always starts the car then i'd only have one dodgy key damn good idea i thought, untill i done the 'transplant' now both keys start the car no problem but neither of them work the central locking!! ive tried the re programming again and nothing happens, both keys will operate the central locking if i use the lock on the drivers door any ideas anyone??

update called at my local steelers where they tested the keys for FREE one key was only sending lock signals the other no signals, i was told the batterys dont last forever and they quoted me £140 for a new key, ive ordered new batterys from cpc £6 each inc delivery, colin abraham was very helpfull approx £35 per key to fix them, ill give the batterys a whirl 1st expect an update in a couple of days!!

Blimey a free key check from the dealers

Be a nice touch if it simply is the batteries that need changing, but Colins repair won't break the bank as a back up.

theres a "how to" guide on replacing the remote batteries here on the forum...http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...key-fob-t1563/

Shame it didn't do the job but it was worth a try Andy

I'm sure Colin will sort you out and far cheaper than the dealers

Last update Colin has repaired one key so far and all is well, I'd suggest anyone with a similar problem to contact him via slowtechs above post, at £35 a key he's far far cheaper than a new one from the stealers
