Is this the dreaded GM5 relay problem? seems strange that everything should stop working at the same time. I've checked fuses, fuse 48 (30amp front electric windows) had blown so I replaced it but still no joy. Fuse doesn't blow again.

If I get to my GM5 is there anything visible to look for, or are the relays sealed? Would a diagnostic tell me anything?
    Hi philipkay

When I removed my GM5 unit, and sent it away to have the central locking relays replaced, I had all the failures that you have experienced when driving the car without my cars GM5 unit fitted

Which to me sounds pretty bad, I'm no auto electrician but I'd check all the fuses, it sounds like the whole GM5 unit has failed,
surely it's more likely that the power supply to the unit has failed in someway.???

There are some larger fuses located behind/above the fusebox in the glovebox perhaps one of them has blown?

    Good Luck

    Hi there

Basically with battery disconnected reconnect your module the reconnect battery(with out keys in the car incase the doors lock lol) and no need for programming of module as it onl has swithching relays replaced on the board

so just plug and play and away you go

    Hi paulrobert2010

As teerak2uk says just plug and play, no need to reprogram as I only had the central locking relays replaced.

if your sending your complete module i.e. still inside its casing so the pcb is not exposed then the module wrapped in bubble wrap and placed inside a box will be fine

Well, what a shit day to do a GM5 repair 100mph winds and rain to drown a fish! but to be fair to Colin he didn't moan one little bit, that might be the fact that he's a top bloke or that fact that he's was doing two cars at the same time!

everything works a treat and highly recommend his work blody cheap too.

It seems like my car has decided to join the exclusive GM5 club! Same symptoms, key fob will not open the doors, but key will, remote button in the car will not open the doors....but the remote fob will open the boot!! HELP.....
I see from these posts that Colin is a good source for repair, whereabouts is he based? Is it also 100% success...

Also, guess what, very sunny today, although not hot......been home about an hour....its gone dark and considerably cooler and hey presto the central locking works via the fob!!! Not once but many times......
