TBH I can't remember where he's based, Oxfordshire rings a bell, you'll have to contact him via the e-mail listed earlier in this thread.
I just sent my unit via Royal Mail Special Next Day delivery, insured for £500.
Yep 100%, Colin repaired mine at the beginning of July and its still fine.

BTW scousegit did you have any issues with the C/L during the summer as its normally heat related?

Hi, can't say I noticed that the problem so much this summer, although, it has been really noticable in the last month or so due to the warm autumn we have had.
I will contact Colin later this evening to try to sort a solution.
I would rather take the car to him if I can and solve it there and then as it is a pain in the a***!

    Hi guys,
I'm glad to see that Colin is really helping you guys out. I just found this thread today and had to post a reply.

I'm the creator of the www.bmwgm5.com and www.bmwdoorlocks.com web sites and have sold a fair number of the door lock relays to Colin and other people around the world. My wife thought I was completely nuts putting in an order for 600 of these relays as it was many times the cost of a new module from BMW, but, it's worked out and I'm glad to read about all the people with working door locks on the various forums. It's ashame that BMW has consistantly screwed up the door locks on the E46 and E9x (not relays, but, actuator problems). Why is it so difficult?

Anyway I just wanted to chime in to say Hi.

Hi, my car is an e36 m3 evo..
My central locking is done by the key as i have no rcl.
My problem is that my central locking is working sometimes and then it wont. it could work all day and then not work for a week. I cannot find any patrern to its activity and non activity.
Other day it wasnt working but yet it would put up the 2 windows with the key and today it wont put up the windows with key..

I have had it with a BMW mechanic and he has tried everything and tested everything usings the BMW wiring diagrams.. he had came to the conclusion that it was the Gm module, so luckily i knew where there was an m3 being made into a track car. Unfortunetly the track car had no battery in it so i couldnt try it before i took module out, but anyway i tried its module in my car and its the exact same, it worked for 5 or 6 opening and closings, then stoped when opening, exactly as my own module was doing.. dont know where to turn now, is it something else thats wrong? i couldnt be that unlucky that the track car module was acting exact same way? could i?

after 3 months of only being able to get in and out of the drivers door, (the boot still worked) & extensive sesearch i took it to my bmw garage who confirmed what i had told them, they charged me £120 for the priviliged!

they quoted me £600+ as it was a very difficult job, alkward to get at...., will take most of a day.....blah,blah,blah. I wasnt having that so i checked on ebay BMW GM5 Central Locking Module Repair Service, the chap will either accept by post, or you can drive to him, i chose to have the day off and drive down to thatchem (Berkshire) ... Took him 10 mins to remove, he left, came back in 30mins put it in , gave me the two affending components
..... all done in an hour for £80, fanf***ingtastic!...

    Cheers

Hello, im thinking on sending my module down to this fella myself, dont fancy driving from leeds cost way too much in fuel , is there a special way to remove it , and will the car be ok to drive with it removed?. dont want to remove it to find the alarm going off, or it being a pest to refit and set back up plus not being driveable

    Cheers

You need to remove the glovebox to access the GM5 unit, with the unit removed your car will be without Alarm, C/Locking
    and more worryingly windscreen wipers

This youtube guide was posted by NealP in an earlier thread

just click on the "GM5 removal Procedure" in list on left hand side of the webpage.

I'd contact Colin via e-mail( colin@cabraham.co.uk ) or by his E-Bay site as he will need to confirm with you that the
fault is indeed the C/L relays.

I think I still have an antistatic bag at home, I'll PM you if I can lay my hands on it?

You could try the e-bay seller then? I'm not sure if he's Colin or not?
