I have a strange electrical issue which I hope one of the BMW E46 Jedi council can help me shed some light on.

During the first few minutes of a journey, if I use a lot of equipment on the car such as CD, lights, blower/heater/aircon, the warning lights on the dash flash on/off and the centre console stops/starts as if the engine stalled. Once the engine very nearly stalled, but didn't.

The engine starts first time, and was recently serviced. It has done 104k.
Suggestions made so far include the battery and Alternator.

I would certainly be interested if anyone here has had a similar experience?

    Thanks all!

Those symptoms sound like a problem earth strap...possibly the engine one. Are the battery leads on tight as well?

Thanks for the reply (and to whoever moved this).
Going to get under the bonnet this weekend and have a look, see if there's something obvious, as it didn't happen at all today, but was particularly bad yesterday evening. Will see what I find......

To be honest, I didn't need this on the list, as I have yet to get the swirl flaps sorted and EGR valve cleaned (I am not as you may have guessed, a mechanic).

    Cheers.
