Hi. I did a quick search on the forum and couldn't find anything, so here goes...

I have an issue with my driver's door lock. On opening with the keyfob, the passenger door will open every time, but more often than not, the drivers door will stay locked. I have to lock then unlock again to see if the little button pops up. Sometimes it does, sometimes I have to repeat multiple times. It seems to be worse in the cold. And its happening more frequently just recenly...

Obviously this is annoying lol. Is there something I can do to try and fix it? Only its a long way to get down to the garage where I bought it from to fix the issue... Or would any decent garage more local to me be able to sort it? (ie non-BMW specialists?)

    Thanks, Sib

common fault new door lock solenoid needed.
    mine was exactly the same.

£50-60 for part(buy a new one not a second hand)

2 hours to swap, the door card is a pain in the ass if you don't know where the screws are.there is also foam cover under the door card which can easily be damaged.if it gets damaged you will get more road noise if it is not replaced.

Ok thanks a lot, might as well take it down the specialist then, I'm sure they've done it a thousand times...

    I like this forum

Having seen loads of door lock issues, I really recommend you get the fault codes read from the ZKE (GM5) module. This can either be the relays inthe GM5 or the door lock. If you go for the door lock, do as sqeekyclean says, buy new.
