I've just acquired a 2003 325 ti compact and am rather enjoying my first rear drive car i've got a couple of issues to address, one being there are no lenses on the number plate lights

Is there an LED upgrade I can fit or is it a case of getting hold of standard ones? Any help much appreciated

Yes you can buy canbus error free LED festoon bulbs but get the ones which have no resister in them as they tend to stay on for two minutes even when no lights are switched on
due to the resistor holding onto the residual current in the line.Just google E46 NUMBER PLATE LIGHTS STAYING ON and you should find a thread in e46 fanatics.com.

So they would stay on after I walk away from the car? What about the lenses how do they fit? Mine has none so I have no point of reference!

Im sure the lenses wont cost that much from the dealer or even less from a breaker.

Another question, are the number plate lights on the compact different to the coupe/saloon lights? In fact is there a guide anywhere that outlines the differences in the compact?
