Can someone in the know tell me which would better to use, ive had one company send me a single (40amp) relay harness with 2 connectors for both ballasts and one has sent me 2 seperate harness's, one for each ballest and both relays rated at 30amp, which would be better to use bearing in mind i want both bulbs to come on exactly the same time. Many thanks

PS Mods, thanks for closing other thread but its not a model specific question..

If you are talking about the relays built into the looms then I would opt for the single relay version. Aftermarket HID's consume less than 10A per ballast so your 40A is sufficient. The striker in the ballast to start them will consume around 8A and then the current will drop to a continuous 5A.

You probably have a double pole relay for the 40A one. Single pole for the independent ones.

After thinking about the wiring side of things before getting stuck in, it dawned on me that installing a relay kit relys on a single feed in from one of the existin headlamp connectors, which then leaves the opposite side dormant, inturn triggering the lamp warning, looks like its sticking the with using just standard wires to run ballast or installing relays on both sides. More to it than people think.
