    Hi,

I have just bought a BMW X5 which was sold to me with a slight issue; since having a flat battery (which was later replaced with a brand new battery) the Sat Nav in the front and the DVD screens in the headrests do not turn on. The dealer did not advertise with the SatNav/Screens and so was not prepared to get these fixed before i bought it, however the low mileage and price kept the car an attractive option for me.

Does anyone know what this issue sounds like - is it a matter of putting in a code like you do with the radio on most cars following a flat batt, or does it sound like there is a proper issue and the whole lot needs replacing?

Any help would be much appreciated....

It would be highly doubtful that it all needs replacing!
I take it you've checked the fuses?
BTW your more likely to get help if you title the thread correctly!

Hi ,, I had the same problem where I purchased an x5 2002 e53 and the sat nav was not working. All I had was a blue screen with television, set, and radio settings on it. I got it checked by BMW melb dealer and they were hopeless, telling me I needed a new unit for $3500. I later. Found someone here in Melbourne who told me that if the battery is low and needs replacing then the sat nav unit fails and Needs reprograming. I would suspect that this is what has happened with your sat nav unit
