Did you try to update the firmware or insert a newer nav disc?

So what you are saying is this happened on it's own without any intervention on your part with trying to install updates etc..?

I brought the car like it, the car was cheap and i didnt question satnav not working at the time, as being an ex tv engineer i figured once i know what module the fault lies in with a circuit diagram i could probably sort it, i know at this stage the nav drive is reading disks ok as it does its initialization as aposed to spitting the disk out if there is a read error or if it fails to focus, so im looking for something other than the nav drive to be faulty although the fault does look like a firmware issue i cant find a way to rewrite the firmware, tried the ussual ways and nothing happens.

I think what's happened is that the previous owner must have tried to upgrade and screwed up . I shall see what kind of remedy I can find for you

Was there ever a fix for this? My 5 is doing the same thing, although I know for a fact it's firmware related, as the previous owner was honest and told me up front about it!
