I bought a set of LED angel rings for my 2002 E46 M3 off eBay. Have tested the rings and they lit up ok.

I decided to wire them directly to my sidelights and then remove the sidelight bulbs so that when I turn on the sidelights, the angel eyes come on ............. effectively replacing the sidelights. I've wired them as per my crappy diagram below but they don't seem to be working, as I'm a bit useless with wiring can someone advise what I've done wrong?

Each ring has a red and black cable. For each side, I've spliced the red cables and black cables together so that there is ultimately 1 red cable and 1 black cable coming from the set of rings. Then I've spliced the red cable with the brown cable going to the sidelights (positive?) and the blue/black cable going to the sidelights (negative?).

    Cheers

Brown wire is the negative.... Think you have them the wrong way around.

    Whoops.

I did a search on google and the first thing that came up was brown is positive, and black/blue negative!

    I'll change them round........

Led's only allow current to flow in one direction so if they dont work switch them over and im sure they will be fine!

Ok cheers guy, got the wires swapped round and the angel eyes are now working perfectly off the sidelights.

Only problem now is .......... I have a dash warning light about front bulbs and my indicators are glowing dull constantly (although I can still indicate left/right and they flash).

    Any ideas?

Because you have removed your side light bulbs, the OBC checks for broken bulbs and shows up an error when detected, so not having a bulb in the OBC sees it as broken,

The way it works, simply, it looks for current flow, and the current your angel eyes are pulling are not high enough

you could use a resistor (load resistor) with the same resitance as the impedence of the bulb, to make the OBC thing hte bulbs are in
