    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a little bit of help.
During this very cold weather, my xenon headlights have played up.
My drivers side one has totally stopped firing up, and my passenger side one is flickering quite a lot.

I imagine it's the ballast but I've read that it could be the igniter too?

I'd like to know if there's anyway if you can find out which is causing the problems, and where I can get genuine replacement parts?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

Have you tried asking our forum vendors Quarry Motors for replacements?http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/f119/

I had quite a few problems with my Xenon lights on the E46, went in several times under warranty, they changed the igniter pack about 5 times, in the end they swapped the entire head light which appeared to fix the problem.

    Hi there
Did you manage to sort out the problem as i have an almost identical problem.
In the cold weather the ns light is slow to come on and sometimes won't come on at all.
I have changed the ballast control unit but the problem remained , I swapped the bulbs over but the fault stayed on the ns.
Could it be the ignitor was that what it was on yours
    cheers
    Andy

I had the same problem on my E46 in that the ns xenon headlight wasn't coming on straight away and sometimes never at all. Swapped the ballast and bought new bulbs but still the problem remained. It was the ignitor in the end which i feared as it's a git to get to as you have to take the headlight to peices but one new fitted ignitor later and job done and never any problems since. It's sounds like you may have to purchase an ignitor mate...bout £80 from the dealers but it could be the end to your problem.

Excellent thanks for that i was thinking along the lines of igniter having changed the ballast and swapped the bulbs looks like you have confirmed it for me . Thats what i needed to hear
    Cheers for that
    Andy
