    Hi All

    Just a quick query.
I have a 330d with auto lights, which on turning the key, automatically adjust their height, i assume to suit the load in the rear.

The offside headlight is brilliant, great vision, but just recently the nearside adjusts to a lower level and as such, lights up the road ahead over a much shorter distance, maybe a car length at most, and easily a 3rd to a half less distant that the drivers side. It is quite clear on the tarmac to see the difference between the two.

Any suggestions as to why this would be, and remedy for?
This happens regardless as to whether the boot is empty or loaded.
    Thanks

    Sorry,
I'm not much help with regards to your query but I've noticed that my headlights (on exactly the same model) also 'auto adjust' on start up and have a similar trait with regards to one side having much more length than the other, but I don't have the auto lights option... or do i?

By auto lights, do you mean the adjustment they make on start up or the light sensitive automatic lights that come on as and when you need them?

    Cheers

    Hiya
I have the auto lights that turn themselves on as and when needed, but this also includes the self levelling feature which adjusts on start up. On the headlights switch on mine, it can be turned anti clockwise where there is an "A" signifying the auto lights setting.
Anyone got any ideas why one would align lower than the other, or any possible cures?

You will be able to manually adjust the height of it on the light unit itself. look for a plastic 6mm allen bolt.

I asked the same question some time ago as mine do the same but lots of members reassured me that theirs did too and this was the correct set up thus not to blind oncoming drivers!

Ok, thanks, but it is the nearside that seems to be short on light, so doesn't pick up the road or kerb very far in front.......can't see the 6mm allen bolt, so any other advice, or help greatly appreciated?

No it's the off side which is apparently shorter in distance so you may have a problem with the auto leveller. Are they the correct bulbs and have you tried swapping them...sounds daft but maybe worth a try.
