hi got a wierd problem. my cars drivers side rear window opens automatically if you just blip the switch, as normal, but wont close if you blip the button... you have to hold the button till the window closes.

it does the same thing when you use the button on the key to close all windows when locking the car. all the windows close except that one...but that window works fine when you are unlocking the car and hold the button all four windows open..

i have tried to program the window, which i believe is to open the window and hold the button for 30 secs. this hasnt helped or am i doing it wrong?

why does it work automatically when opening but not when closing?

    any solutions/ ideas appreciated

when i first got the car.. whenever i used the auto close facility on my key all the windows used to close , now only three close.
and when im in the car and try to close the faulty window it only closes if i hold the button till it is fully shut. this is both of the buttons, the one on the gearbox console and the button on the door. so i dont think it is the buttons. it never used to be like that. before the fault started, just one touch of either button and the window closed by itself.

do the windows have some sort of relay or something that controls it actions that may be faulty?

I take it you have a saloon, not a coupe? Sounds like a dodgy switch.

    PROBLEM SOLVED.

researched some more on this fab site and read about the regulator arm needing adjusting. looked at my window as it moved up and down and saw that as it closed it jerked slightly at the last second when it reached the top.

took off the door trim, removed the rubberised inner trim, loosened the 3 screws (DIDNT REMOVE) that held the arm and then pressed the switch to let the window go up and down to let the arm find its own best place then tried the auto up and auto down and..... bosh... sorted working auto both down and now UP aswell...
tightened screws and reassembled door trims.

    arm just needed adjusting...
