    Hi, i have just bought a 2002 E46 330d. My previous car was a 2000 E46 320d.
I noticed on my new car that the indicators don't flash when i lock the car. But my 320d did. Can anyone tell me if this is right, or should they still flash like my pre-facelift model did.
If they should, does anyone have any ideas how to sort this.

They should if no one has turned off this setting.
Does the alarm set correctly? look at the led in the mirror on locking.
Does it flash straight away at about once every second ish no faster, or does it flash rapidly then after 10 seconds or so settle down.?
If it flashes at 1 times a second ish from the get go someone may have turned off this feature in the past, only way to check is to have it plugged into a computer.
If it flashes at fast then settles I would suspect a switch for alarm is still saying open when all is closed, i.e doors/boot/bonnet signals open, but they are closed.
Its easy to check the door switches:-
Turn on the ignition and get out of the car, close all doors, watch the interior light - open each door one by one closing after opening - door open, light comes on, close the door, light goes off. next door.....
Boot switch, open the boot, boot light on, roll the latch closed with a thin screwdriver, light off, remember to press the boot open button before closing the lid again to reopen the latch, or it wont shut.
    This leaves the bonnet switch.
Open the bonnet with all the car doors shut and key remote in hand.
Give the switch some violent presses down and let it spring up, its on the drivers side just in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Is it fitted/correctly?
Hold it down fully with your finger, lock the car, indicators now flash?
If not, pull the switch UP past the click position - signals bonnet closed with it open - lock car again, does it flash indicators now?
If doors/boot switches check out ok then replace the bonnet switch, especially if the lights start to flash after you have messed with it.

If you go to a BMW independent garage, they will be able to change this setting for you on the computer, its part of the key memory settings. This will cost you between £20-£40 to get done. You will have a whole list of things you may change whilst you're getting it done. Here have a look at this, this link will contain a document which will show you the options you could change:

Unfortunately I am unable to attach the PDF document to this post due to the technical difficulties which are being faced with attaching files and images on this site. I believe this is being looked into by the mods.

    Hope this helps
