there are a set of both pre and post facelift xenon lights on ebay at the moment but they are very expensive, £400 for pre and £600 for post!!

I was looking at them and would also like to know how complex is the change? would it be plug and play or would bmw need to do something with them?

does ti coem with the selfleveling motors and all the ballasts etc? also do you have light washers as if your going to put them in and want xenons then you would have to make them fully legal other wise you mayaswell just stick a cheap hid kit in

I fitted a xenon hid kit to my e36 323i yesterday, took me 25minutes, was really simple install and all was plug and play, the only thing that was of effort was finding where to mount the ballasts and drilling the holes to secure them, the kit was bought of ebay for £56 from a company called londoncolour, also the ballasts were really small so easily hidden for the o.e look.

from the ebay ad for the pre face lift saloon ones (£400)
    Genuine BMW Xenon headlights
    Used
    Excellent condition
    Includes ballasts
    Includes bulbs
    Fits any E46 Saloon pre-facelift 1998-2001

No mention of self levelling motors.. i know my car moves the lights on start up but that isn't the same thing. my car has washers though.

So its not going to be legal without the self levelling stuff, i take it that would be expensive to get hold of!?

    Cheers

seams to have most of the stuff might be worth looking on realoem and seeing if its part of the light unit or if its a seperate part would be a upgrade id like to do it if it wasnt so expensive as oem upgrades are nicer and neater
