After a previous post of something draining my battery intermitently I have tried various solutions without success.

Last week I changed the montior screen for one I knew that worked. Whilst putting back together I must have knocked a wireloose becuase I couldnt get any hot airthrough my vents. Not the best of wether to do this as it took me hour to defrost the thing. Anyway I decided to leave it to see if thescreen made any difference. It did, my battery was fine and the car started no problem, even in the freezing cold.

So Ive put the rest of the plugs back in and got hot air again.....very nice. 2 days later battery completely flat again and needs to be jump started.

So I have now decided that it is definately the climate control unit and started searching and came across a few posts about the final stage resistor. So will it be this or the climate control unit that needs changed?

The air has never been what is ice cold since I had it but thought this just meant the air con needed recharged.

Any advice gratefully received folks. Thisproblem is driving me nuts!!.

this fault should show up on a fault reader/code reader.had this in the past on e36 and e46 has always been the FSR (HEDGEHOG).YOUR CAR IS NOW AT AN AGE IT WOULD BE DUE FOR REPLACMENT.good luck.

It could very well be the FSR as this has been known to cause battery drain other symptoms include coming off/on intermittently and also only working at top speed. You can find them on Ebay for around £40 plus and fairly easy to replace
It may be a good idea to have your codes read as this may point this fault out and any other faults you may have stored on the ECU
