    my e46 320ci has just put on the eml light. i pluged my computer in and its came up with code.

    p227 - fuel trim bank 1 possible exeeded
    p228 - fuel trim bank 1 possible exeeded

    has any one ever had this or know what it is

    ok will do . Thought the fack it was a bmw site and fault codes are the same through the bmw range the title was enof.

    I would be checking for any air leaks from split hoses, split vacuum pipes, split engine breather pipes or split induction pipes, also any valves and diaphragms that may have failed. Any air that is sucked into the engine should travel past the Air flow meter otherwise it will give you a running fault and can trigger a Airflow meter fault code or lambda fault code, which Fuel trim codes pretty much are.

    BMW's use a variety of different ECU's depending on your model of car AND the fault codes are not the same, so anyone else with a E46 the same as yours will NOW find your thread title useful should they have a similar problem
