Ok i'm not good when it comes to technical and cars so this may sound a stupid question but i've learnt if i don't know somehting to ask. So did you have cruise control already and just added the multi function steering wheel or have you had to add actuators and other bits to get the cruise to work as it seems very simple to spend circa £50 and have full radio and cruise control by just adding the mutli functionsteering wheel. Sorry for my ignorance but i just don't know the answer.

    kind regards

My car didnt have a MFSW or cruise control when purchased.

Confused me when i first read about it - it appears all e46's that have fly by wire throttle control already have the required actuators installed and just need the MFSW and correct wiring loom to make it active.

Having carried out the retrofit i can confirm that this works

Yeah, its such an easy mod to do, and well worth it.
The hardest part is threading the wiring loom behind the dash over behind the glovebox and through to the electrics box.

By taking the glovebox out - 4-6 screws it becomes easier though!!

    Am well chuffed!!!!

Incidentally, this pic shows what pin connector should be used for a M47n engine car-
Just fitted the loom to my car for cruise and thought the wire adapter was in the kit but when i went to fit it the connector is wrong shape
so i tried to push the wire onto the pin just to test it works but car would not start. Took the wire out and all is well again

Does this mean that when i get the connector the cruise wont work? or could it be that the wire was not a good contact on pin?????

    Many thanks for any help

TBH i'm not sure. I never tried just pushing it onto the pin. Are you sure it was the correct pin you tried?

im sure it was the correct pin but going to order the wire adapter monday and then try again.
Going to double check the wiring on the back of the light switch also as i just connected my loom wires to the same coloured ones without checking the pin numbers as it was arkward to see them.

Just hope it all works, at least the stereo buttons do

If stereo controls are working then i'd say you've wired it correctly.

Just out of interest do the buttons on the steering wheel light up when you turn on your lights like the dash does. I thought this was real cool!!
