hey guys, fitted new rear lights today. these ones: http://www.express-enterprise.co.uk/...ts-p-6758.html they look dam sexy although im getting a red warning light on the dash for the bulbs for the right hand side. cant figure out whats wrong. ive changed all the bulbs (ashamed but one bulb fell into the fitting, cant get it out lol. will do later!) any ideas what could be wrong? maybe the wiring on the unit itself? fuse maybe! id assume if it was a fuse problem none of them would light.

try swapping bulbs from right to left and see if the problems jumps sides???

    dodgy connection might need cleaning?

    bulb about to blow??

did you fit new bulb holders?? or kept originals?? could try swapping back to rule it out??

this setup is strange. they dont come with bulb holders but have wiring looms that are directly connected to a bulb socket. ive replaced all bulbs though not switch them round but thats a good idea. ill give that a go see if it shifts sides.

can a fellow compact owner tell me what lights come on when they put their rear fog lights on?

(hands are officially ripped to pieces!)

okay so this is what happened. plugged the old bulb holder with bulbs into the power... all errors disappeared. decided at this time to check what happens when i put my rear fogs on. top bulb brightens! result. disconnected the old unit and moved all the old bulbs into the new housing. all bulbs light up as expected although when i turned the fog light the top bulb didnt brighten at all. just remained the same.

im under the assumption that somewhere there is a wiring fault on the taillights themselves.

Check the connections on plugs that go onto the bulb holders for corrosion and or signs of melting, quite common and BMW sell a repair kit for it too....

the wiring is different. these new lights are designed for compacts with two reverse bulbs it seems. though we only have one on hte left side. so the lights seem to be tricking the system into causing a bulb error. been told to cut and splice the reverse wire but not sure where or how to do that. would mean i get two reverse lights! woop

so spoke to a mate dad whos an electrician. told me that splicing would cause a lot of mess. he advised me to get a new loom so im thinking of getting hte same loom as appears on the left hand side and fitting that on the right to get the second reverse bulb working! been on realoem trying to track down the part number but not having any luck. anyone know where to find it?
