    Hi,

Woke up a couple of mornings ago to find both my windows slightly open (still NO idea as to why/how I left them open) after a heavy night of apparently horizontal rain. It had managed to get everywhere, even the gear stick gaiter had a pool full of water. I dried off as much as I could but it was all over the radio and the dashboard. After trying to dry it out as best I could with heaters etc I now have some problems.

First of all, the horn would sound intermittently whilst driving so I have had to take the fuse out for now. The radio is now stuck on one radio station and pressing any button just toggles between 'REG OFF' and 'REG ON' on the display. The final problem (I hope) is the dashboard display would just randomly cycle through MPG, time, average MPH etc and pressing the indicator stalk button would have no effect until now it is stuck on MPG.

Now I am hoping that the horn issue and hopefully the indicator stalk button issue are just water shorting things out and they may dry out and fix themselves eventually. But I'm not sure this will be the case with the radio. Does anyone have any ideas about drying it out more quickly. I'd rather not remove the steering wheel and take a hairdryer to it but I may have to...I have an MOT in a weeks time!

    Cheers,

    Tom

Have you checked the steering wheel slip ring hasn't become water damaged? It sounds like this will be one of the first places to look.

Thanks for the suggestion. Luckily, after a few days it seemed to dry out a bit and the only problem now is the radio. I have bought one of ebay so hopefully just swapping that out should fix the problem!
